[ Well, Reiji took it in stride (ha ha). It's perfectly true, after all - and he's always been inclined to take responsibility for his habit of complimenting people freely. Including girls.

Eli is great company though, which is why he's all too willing to pull some strings to get the outing together. ]

Nope! We're done. Today's usually training day, but the manager gave us a break. [ The wink clearly (or not so clearly) states Reiji Shenanigans. ] Even the most hardworking need a break once in a while, you know?

[ He has his own skates, but they're packed in a carrying bag. ]

[ gasp ] Reiji-kun—!

[ But manager, huh? Sometimes she forgets his group is on an entirely different level than hers. And he made some time just for this? Her expression softens and she lets out an exasperated sigh at how absurd he can be. ]

Professional idols and school idols are worlds apart, aren't they? [ She looks at the blanket of snow below them and grips the laces of her skates tightly. ] I've always thought you had it easy, but I feel like I'm the childish one here asking you to come with me.

[ For all of it, Reiji just smiles. He's a little amused at Eli's exasperation (somewhat similar to Shizuma's when he pulls off this kind of stunt) - but there's also an underlying current of confidence, as if he never doubted his decision since the beginning. ]

Hey, don't worry about it. It's fine, we started off as school idols too. I'm also a student, and it's not right to deny students the right to relax no matter how much stuff they have to do. [ There's a lot of effort and pain behind achieving professional status, but he's not about to let that show. ] So it's fine! I'd rather spend my off days hanging out with you than any old stranger or staying at home.

[ Never mind the fact that he kinda impromptu rearranged his schedule.... but it all works out okok. ]

[ Eli blushes—and she tries not to blush because he does this with everyone, god—but she's moved by how he made time to be with her. After all, she knows the blood, sweat and tears idols shed just as much as he does. He's perfect. Almost too perfect.

... Almost. ]

You do have a point. [ Then she pouts. ] But if you pull this stunt off with every girl, I don't think they'll be very happy.

Well, I don't! I only do this with my friends.

[ Coming from Reiji 'genuinely interested in your life' Suwa, ladies and gentlemen. But really, he tends to do this with both boys and girls so it makes it less of hitting on people (maybe). Then again, this is also probably the reason why he's so popular with girls. Asuma has more male fans than him. ]

Let me know if I'm making you uncomfortable, though.

[ He's more serious now, but there's a bit of innocent playfulness in it still. ]

[ That explains why he's popular, yes. It all makes sense to her now. As for making her uncomfortable? ]

[ Although she means every word, she smiles just as playfully. Friends... She was popular in school, but until she found u's, she didn't have many people she was close to. Now she's even friends with a boy from another school, and another idol group at that!

u's doesn't use honorifics because they're friends. Reiji's a friend too, so she calls him Reiji-kun. But is it too soon to drop them with him? He's still too much of a mystery. He's been very generous to her, but there are still many things she doesn't know about him. Huh. Is he really a friend, then?

Well, what she knows about him now isn't as important as what she'll know in the future. ]

Come to think of it, I haven't heard you say my name today.

[ Oh, he sees what you did there.... but two can play at this game, especially someone who has been playing the social game for ages.

He appears to consider the question, tapping one finger to his chin: ]

[ Sure, he's called her by her surname before, but that was during official stage meets when managers were around. Here, they're just friends. School students. Out of the glamour of the stage, he's quick to fall into his casual habits. ]

[ Eli's lips part in surprise, fully expecting an Eli-san or Ayase-san. She doesn't fight the heat in her cheeks this time. How does he know? How could he know? ]

That's... what Nozomi calls me.

[ Reiji might look a little airheaded at times, but he has a keen eye for observation. Especially people he has to befriend. ]

Will you let me use it?

[ It's her preference, after all. ]

[ On the inside, she's sCREAMING A BIT. ]

That's... [ Oh no, she was afraid of this. She's supposed to be the cool and clever Elichika, but right now— ] I don't mind!

[ He's chipping at her inhibitions. It's almost like... a trial? Stay strong, Eli. ]

[ No one can resist the miyano charms.... no one. ]

Then, it's decided! You can give me a nickname too.

[ Bantarou calls him Rei-kun, but that depends on whether Eli has been noticing things. Shizuma calls him Reiji-sama but that's probably not what she's looking for right now. ]

Me? [ It's rare for someone to fluster her, so she's still trying to recover. ] I'm not very good at nicknames. Anyway, this is so sudden! But um.

[ Think, Eli, think. ]

How about Rei-kun? That's what your friends call you, isn't it? [ She chuckles sheepishly. ] Only Nozomi has ever given me a nickname, so I'm... [ Happy. ] still getting used to it.

[ That gets a little laugh out of him, most likely in approval. ]

Rei-kun it is, then! [ It's one he's used to, anyway. ] It's not really a bad thing. it means we're good friends.

[ He's already gotten the impression that Eli's stage persona is one of the more regal ones, so that could be related. ]

[ Good friends...

It's winter all around, yet she can feel her chest warm up. One could say she's used to being the one taking the lead among her friends, but being with the sunny, amiable Reiji isn't so bad either. ]

Then, Reiji... Rei-kun. Let's hurry up! The lake is right there, and I don't want to waste another moment.

[ With a tug of his sleeve, she urges him to walk faster with her to the frozen lake. Eli had that cool, dependable vibe about her, but there were some things that could get past that shell. ]

[ He's trained himself to put people at ease, after all. If Eli wasn't relaxed hanging out with him, then there's something wrong with the way he conducts himself. ]

Sure thing. Do you want to race?

[ Eli probably knows that he's an athlete in addition to being an idol, but he's definitely not going to put in his top speed. Unlike her, he's a bit more free with switching on/off his mature countenance. ]

[ Now that she's relaxed, she kind of wants to! There's one thing stopping her, though. ]

Are you sure? I know I invited you, but I don't want you to push yourself if you're tired.

[ Even if he isn't going to use his top speed. Was it training day yesterday, too? She doesn't know. But as she is aware of his responsibilities as both an athlete and an idol, she does want him to look after himself. ]

I'm good. It's just some warm-up for me, anyway.

[ It's not meant in a demeaning way - just that he does handle higher intensity training on an almost daily basis. Plus, if they're going to go skating, he might as well loosen his muscles a bit before they start. Running and skating are different sets of exercises, after all. ]

[ Idols really are on another level... She'll relent this time. ]

Well, alright. But even if this is warm-up, I won't lose! [ Eli's no pro, but she's pretty athletic herself. And with that part of her that strives for excellence, she won't give Reiji a halfhearted performance. ]

Ready? Set...

Go!

[ Reiji finishes her sentence for her. He's not as good as Asuma at starting sprints, but his superior stamina and speed would have made him win - if he was putting in all his effort. Which he isn't. He's taking care to keep even pace with Eli, not being too ahead nor being too far behind.

It's probably going to be a neck-to-neck race until they reach, upon which he'll let her win but just by a small margin. ]

[ Meanwhile, Eli gives this race her all, even pumping her fist when she makes it to the lake. ]

I won! [ She chuckles. ] You didn't do your best, though.

[ It's not a victory she can be proud of. ]

[ That's true. But when he does do his best, the result can be terrifying. ]

Well, it's my best for today. I'm saving energy for skating. Does that count?

[ Maybe this'll make her better? This is said while he looks around for a place they can put their things. ]
